iPhone 5 promo parody hits web

A new parody video purporting to be a leaked official iPhone 5 promo reveals that the much anticipated next-generation Apple smartphone is just for taking pictures.

More specifically, video maker Adam Sacks shows that the iPhone 5 — a 4G LTE device heavily rumoured to be announced in September — is optimised for taking photos of succulent food dishes.

A phony Apple VP is shown in the video discussing how the company discovered that “people only use iPhones to take photos of their food” in an attempt to show others how much they’re enjoying life. From there, the pitch perfect video skewers “sad and alone” iPhone users who have cut themselves off from real “human connection,” beyond Pinning, Liking and ReTweeting.

According to the VP, Apple has rethought everything from screen resolution to the screws holding the device together. He says even Siri has been reworked to suggest captions for your food photos.

The real iPhone 5, expected to sport a 4-inch screen, is rumoured to be announced on Sept. 12. An iPadMini tablet is also expected by Apple watchers to be unveiled around that time. Whatever Apple announces, the products will no doubt enable the company to pile onto its rapidly rising value, which blew past the $600 billion market capitalisation mark this week.
