As an international carrier serving 40 cities in 23 countries across three continents, Gulf Air is driven by huge volumes of user-generated data – further expected to grow by 12 percent in the next 18 months. With the modern passenger in mind, Gulf Air aims to optimise the data to develop an array of products and services. To meet this end, efficient backup and recovery with resilient protection storage is key to fueling the national carrier’s business ambitions.

Gulf Air opted for Dell EMC as the company believes that the vendor’s protection solution can power the IT transformation of its existing storage infrastructure, reduce related costs, future-proof it with advanced efficiencies and safeguard critical data and processes.

Dr. Jassim Haji, Director Information Technology, Gulf Air, said, “As a national carrier with a long heritage of delivering exceptional passenger satisfaction, we are committed to providing our customers with leading-edge products and services – which can be hampered by a lack of real-time data access. Data protection and availability solutions help ensure that our current IT environment not only facilitates a high level of data availability, but also extends enhanced data protection and recovery at industry-leading speed. With an eye on the needs of the future, we are immensely pleased to continue working with Dell EMC.”

In addition, the aviation firm selected Dell EMC’s data protection and availability solutions which comprise Dell EMC Data Domain protection storage and Dell EMC Data Protection Suite software to ensure advanced data protection in addition to achieving the highest levels of data availability around the clock

Habib Mahakian, Vice President for Gulf and Pakistan at Dell EMC, said, “With its uninterrupted legacy of customer satisfaction, Gulf Air is staying ahead of the game by prioritising its IT transformation in an increasingly data-driven world. We are proud to support them and their objective of creating a strong foundation for data growth by building further on our strategic relationship. We aim to ensure that by leveraging the capabilities offered by Dell EMC’s Data Domain and Data Protection Suite solutions, Gulf Air is able to maximise the protection and availability of its IT infrastructure, protect growing volumes of data that will fuel continued growth and deliver best-in-class services.”
