Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority receives high-ranking delegation from Nigeria

Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis, the integrated free zone technology park, today received a high-ranking delegation from Nigeria headed by His Excellency Salamatu Rabiu Musa, Kano State Governor, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Shahla Ahmed Abdul Razak, Deputy CEO, DSOA, welcomed the nine-member delegation that included Danburam Abubakar Nuhu, Honourable Commissioner, Commerce and Industry, as well as senior representatives from some of Nigeria’s leading business houses including IRS Airlines.

The visiting officials were briefed on the progress achieved by the integrated free zone technology park since its inception in 2005. Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed, Chairman of Board, RIT Dubai, and Dr Yousuf Al Assaf, President, RIT Dubai also offered an overview of the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Dubai campus as part of the knowledge-exchange session.

Shahla Abdul Razak said: “DSO is committed to building solid relationships with different regions and countries that facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge and help attract foreign direct investments to DSO. We are confident that establishing talks with the Nigerian delegation will strengthen trade relations with the Nigerian firms that can benefit from the tech park’s best-in-class offerings.”

Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed said: “We are pleased to welcome the Nigerian delegation who showed great interest in RIT Dubai supported by the government of Dubai through Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority. We have achieved great results this year through attracting students that are looking at exploring innovative educational programs. We hope to attract students from around the region and such interactions offer a valuable platform to introduce our capabilities to countries from the Middle East and Africa region”.

Commending the facilities being provided at DSO, His Excellency Salamatu Rabiu Musa applauded the visionary initiatives of the Dubai government and expressed optimism on leveraging the collaboration opportunities and synergy with the high-tech park and RIT – Dubai.
