ALE, operating under the Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise brand, has announced that Jack Chen has been appointed as the new CEO by the ALE Holdings Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Chen is replacing acting CEO, Jeff Ma, who will continue as a board member of ALE Holdings.

Jack comes to ALE with more than 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining ALE, he was the head of the APAC and China Wireless business in Alcatel-Lucent. In this position, he was able to double the wireless business in three years. Prior to this, he was an executive vice president in Alcatel Shanghai Bell (ASB), the flagship company of Alcatel-Lucent in China, where he played a critical role in implementing the shift plan. Before Alcatel-Lucent, he held various important positions, such as the global COO of the Alcatel Mobile Radio Business in France and the president of Shanghai Bell Alcatel Mobile Co. Ltd. Chen has a very strong business acumen and understanding of the telecommunications industry. He has a proven track record of building and transforming businesses in his past career.

ALE introduced a new business strategy in the first quarter this year, to provide customers choice and flexibility in how they purchase and consume networking and communications technology — whether CAPEX, OPEX or consumption-based — in this new “as-a-service” economy.

Building on its proven innovation, two new innovative financial and consumption models were recently launch in support of this strategy:

  • Rainbow, a new global, hybrid cloud-based service operated by ALE, creates collaborative team interactions while offering customers technology investment protection regardless of existing communications systems
  • Network on Demand is a service that enables businesses to gain the latest networking technology on a pay-per-use basis, delivering the industry’s most comprehensive consumption-based networking offer.

These new offers complement the continuing investment in traditional networking and unified communication solutions.

Jack Chen, CEO, ALE, said, “I look forward to building on the excellent foundation that Jeff, the management team and all of the employees have put in place. I see significant opportunities for ALE based on our strong product portfolios and innovative business models that better serve our customers.”
